Kelly and David Wed at Lea Marston Hotel

Kelly booked me to play her wedding reception nearly a year before the actual event; this is one girl who knows how to plan!

Planning a wedding can be complicated; suddenly all of your friends and family have opinions and ideas they simply MUST share! When Kelly and I first spoke about her wedding, taking place on 22 November 2014, she wasn’t sure if she wanted me to play for the wedding ceremony or the wedding breakfast.

She met with the wedding planner at Lea Marston Hotel in Sutton Coldfield, and after discussing all the details and logistics, they determined the drinks reception after the wedding ceremony but before the wedding breakfast was the time they most needed guests entertained. This also was going to be the best time for Kelly and David to get a chance to actually hear the harp!

FairWedding_playingAfter getting set up in the beautiful atrium (and a few cheeky photos of the harp in this festive setting), I welcomed the wedding guests to the after-wedding party with some angelic glissandos and popular love songs.

Following pictures by the talented wedding photographer Just Rebecca, the guests were ushered down the hall for dinner while Kelly and David were able to sneak a few minutes alone in the atrium. Bliss! I played a few background songs for them, but then they kindly came over to the harp and we got a chance to chat and get to know each other – something that almost never happens to a wedding harpist during the gig. What a lovely, kind and connected couple: they are beautiful together and clearly have a great partnership.
