Opening Night at 55 Colmore Row
This iconic building in Birmingham, long-time home of the law firm formerly known as Wragge & Co, underwent a fantastic renovation and rejuvenation and was re-opened in February 2017.I was asked to play for the opening night drinks reception to entertain the guests as they arrived and got a feel for the new layout and décor of Birmingham’s newest dual-purpose building.
Once inside it was clear to see why Core Marketing chose the harp for this event – the foyer is very modern with spectacular lighting and cornice that emphasises the double-high ceilings – and the harp added to the immediate WOW-factor of the room.
The acoustics in the room are quite good considering the height of the ceilings, and the feedback from the guests was that they found the harp music “beautiful and light, perfectly balanced in the background to hear the recognisable tunes and the person you were talking with”.
Nearly 250 guests sipped champagne and enjoyed sumptuous hors d’oeuvres while meeting the developers, property managers and marketing team. The welcome reception was followed by a tour of the building that now houses the famous restaurant, Gaucho.
“Michelle provided the perfect background music for our corporate drinks reception at a very favourable cost – her harp playing gave the event a beautiful ambience.” Vicky Prosser, Classique Promotions
