Celebrating Freda
A life full of love, laughter and music is celebrated with family, friends and a harpist.
During such a difficult time, following the loss of a loved one, it is hard to think of all the necessary and special details for a funeral. When Adrian contacted me about an event for his mother, Freda, it was apparent immediately that this was going to be a very special occasion.
The first thing Adrian said to me was “It’s a celebration of the beautiful life of our dear mother. And having you play the harp would be perfect!” From that moment forward Adrian, and his sister Christina treated me like I was part of the family.
The Mount Hotel in Tettenhall was secured for the celebration, and not just any room, but the absolutely stunning Great Hall. While the Great Hall can easily accommodate a couple hundred people for a large event, it was the perfect venue for this intimate celebration of 50 family and friends, perfect for mingling, talking and sharing.
Adrian provided a long list of songs loved by their mother, and songs that reminded he and Christina of her. Some of the favourites we ended up with were:
Lara’s Theme from Dr Zhivago
Theme from Love Story
Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring
Fur Elise
Danny Boy
What I Did for Love from A Chorus Line
It was a beautiful celebration of a lady who was very clearly admired and adored, thank you Adrian and Christina for letting me be a part of it.
