Wendy and Liz at the George Hotel in Lichfield
The regal stature of the harp suits the Garrick Suite beautifully at this iconic Lichfield hotel.
Wendy and Liz first heard me play the harp at their friends’ Birthday and Anniversary Party. Shortly after, I received a note asking about availability for their civil ceremony date in June.
In February, the couple came to my house for a Music Consultation to hear some of their specific song requests on the harp, as they had done plenty of research beforehand about wedding music and appropriate civil ceremony songs. We spent an hour with me playing some of my most requested pieces and trying out a few songs they had heard on the Internet.
The couple chose their music and we finalised arrangements for the wedding day.
I arrived at the George Hotel in plenty of time to set up the harp, get tuned and welcome the first guests into the room with a Renaissance Pavane. While the guests awaiting the wedding party I played Love Story, Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton, All of Me by John Legend and She’s Like the Wind.
To get everyone smiling, and to reflect their excitement for the nuptials, the couple requested It’s Now Or Never as the last song played before the ceremony!
Liz entered the wedding ceremony to the popular One Day Like This by Elbow ending on the predictive phrase: It’s Going to be a Beautiful Day. Wendy then joined Liz at the front of the room accompanied to a beautiful arrangement of Perfect by Ed Sheeran.
Their first song as a married couple, as they signed the register, was Thinking Out Loud, followed by Chasing Cars and the Flower Duet from Lakme.
The newly-married couple left the Garrick Suite to the Wedding March, followed by the upbeat I Gotta Feeling.
Loads of love and congratulations Wendy and Liz, and thank you for letting me be such a big part of your special wedding day!
