Funerals and Life Celebrations
When a loved one passes away there are so many details to arrange, often the last thing you want to worry about is sorting the ceremony music. I work with several funeral directors in the West Midlands to ensure the music is appropriate, and special.
There are as many types of ceremonies for celebrating life as there are people in this world. When it comes to creating the funeral service or life celebration perfect for your loved one, the choice of music can be pivotal. Music creates a mood, it lifts our spirits and can bring a smile to your face even in a time of great sadness.
I have played for many funerals and life celebrations: some are traditional and reverent with spiritual hymns through-out, others are up-beat and light hearted. The current trend seems to be leaning towards a combination of these two styles as the service is spiritual and after the readings the music is upbeat, modern and more often than not, a favourite song or popular anthem.
In the West Midlands we have such a mix of cultures it often requires knowledge of the specific norms and traditions. Working closely with the family and the funeral director ensures my harp music combines with the ceremony to provide warmth and joy.
Some of the my most popular harp music pieces requested at funerals and celebrations of life in Birmingham are:
Ave Maria
Abide with Me
Amazing Grace
The Lord’s Prayer
Always Look on the Bright Side of Life
The Minstrel Boy
Danny Boy
You’ll Never Walk Alone
I always try to accommodate special requests, so please do get in touch.
