Sophie & Joel Tie the Knot at Hogarths Hotel
Nothing terribly exciting happens between Christmas and New Year’s Eve – so what a wonderful time to get married!
Sophie and Joel held their entire nuptial celebrations at Hogarths Hotel in Solihull, one of my favourite wedding and event venues as the acoustics are great for the harp no matter where I am positioned.
Overnight the West Midlands was covered in a blanket of snow, so I left early on the morning of 27 December to arrive at the venue, get the harp adjusted to the temperature, tune and be ready to play. As the wedding ceremony started at noon, I got the rare opportunity to see the bride before she walked down the aisle – and snapped a few photos of her bridal party, the adorable ushers, and her dad who was dancing a jig to entertain Sophie and keep her calm!
After the ceremony, my harp music entertained the wedding party, family and guests as they sipped champagne and chatted in the bar and orangery. The bride and groom laughed and kissed their way through the hours of obligatory photos, including a large group photo outside in the freezing cold.
Sophie requested easy listening music for the 2.5-hour drinks reception, which was perfect as it gave me a chance to play some beautiful, classical harp pieces in between familiar love songs and popular pieces. After the drinks reception, the guests moved into the marquee for their formal sit-down dinner.
Congratulations to the newly-married Mr and Mrs Vann! I wish you many years of love, laughter and happiness.
“Your harp music was absolutely perfect – exactly what we were looking for! The sound was so beautiful and carried throughout the bar and orangery. We all loved it, thank you.” Sophie and Joel
